Why China Owns the Future

I served as the editor on the YouTube feature Why China Owns the Future for client 2 and 20, responsible for the full post-production edit. My work included sourcing and integrating footage, designing SFX and sound design elements, refining cuts for narrative flow, and delivering the final export ready for YouTube. I focused on clean assembly and consistent audio-visual pacing to support the documentary’s argument and viewer engagement.

  • End-to-end editing, SFX and sound design for a long-form YouTube documentary.
  • Sourced and integrated archival footage to strengthen narrative continuity.
  • Delivered a YouTube-ready master; the video has reached ~178K views and 5.4K likes.

The project was a long-form documentary-style video produced for 2 and 20 and published on YouTube. The piece required careful assembly of interviews, narration and supporting visuals to present a coherent argument about China’s economic trajectory. Published on YouTube, the video has accumulated roughly 178,550 views with 5,468 likes and 844 comments, providing context for audience engagement without altering the scope of my work.

My primary responsibilities were video editing, sourcing footage, adding SFX, and creating a balanced sound design. I organized raw assets into structured timelines, made editorial choices to tighten pacing, and blended sourced clips so they felt consistent with original material. Sound design and SFX were applied to support transitions and emphasize key moments, with attention to clarity for both desktop and mobile listening environments.

For delivery I prepared the final exports to meet YouTube specifications and handed over a broadcast-ready master to the client. Throughout the process I coordinated closely with the producer to ensure edits matched the script and story arc, and iterated on feedback to refine timing and audio balance. The result was a polished, platform-ready video that supported the client’s creative goals and performed steadily on YouTube.
